Green Jeans

Making and producing clothes can be extremely harmful to the environment, with the water consumption, use of chemicals, dirty energy and pollution.

Many brands are trying to present an environmentally friendly, fair trade front to their image, but how many of these companies are trying 100% to make a difference? Over the last 5 years eco friendly brands have grown enormously and are the future of fashion.

AG Adriano Goldschmied is one brand that has jumped early, changing how all AG jeans are made to dramatically reduce water consumption, use of chemicals and dirty energy by 25% annually. The process being used is called Ozone Technology. Normally jeans are rinsed with large amounts of water to get rid of the excess indigo dye and chemicals are applied to fade the jean and clean up the indigo bleed on the pocket linings. When a jean is ‘ozonized’ those processes are drastically reduced and nearly eliminated. The ozone acts as bleach to disinfect the garment, kill bacteria and clean up the indigo. In turn this reduces the water consumption and greatly lowers energy and chemical usage.

Adriano Goldschmied are the leaders of the ‘new clean denim,’ and by completing their clean manufacturing process they have also introduced organic and sustainable top quality fabric choices that are also being used by smaller companies like Good Society.

Eco friendly production and fabrics are a growing concern and trend that will not cease any time soon. Get on board and help save the world one jean at a time.
